| Jonathan Cowan is in charge of all music coordination and works on the entertainment arm of the Shelborne Beach Resort. Shine is the brainchild of Cowan and Miami Host Gerry Kelly. The complex consists today with Poolside special events, weekly parties in The Lounge, and club SHINE which is open monthly parties and for special events. The Shelborne is a Deco Landmark Building that was built by Jon's Grandfather, Samuel Friedland, in 1939 and launched December 28th 1940. By 1947 the hotel and its infamous diving board graced the cover of Life Magazine. The history of entertainment at the Shelborne spans back to the 50's and 60's and early 70's when people like Dionne Warwick, Jackie Mason, Sammy Davis Junior, Liza Minnelli and many others were regular visitors to the Hotel and its club. The reinventing of the Shelborne's historical past along with the opening of club Shine in 2005 brought the good reviews back to the Shelborne. "The best sound in Miami Beach" and "The hub of WMC" (2006 through 2010), were the accolades bestowed on the man and his hard work building the event arm at The Shelborne.
Artists such as Dj/producer Jazzy Jeff, David Guetta, Sasha, Bob Sinclair, Eric Prydz,,Laurent Garnier, David Morales, Martin Buttrich, Reboot, Darren Emerson, Dubfire, Timo Maas, Lee Burridge, Sander Kleinenberg, Frankie Knuckles, Paul Oakenfold and new to the international celebrity DJ list Luciano and Loco Dice have played in the club or pool side. The Shelborne is known for its pool side events that have seen performances or hosts such as Paris Hilton, Common, Biz Markie, Macy Gray, Janes Addiction, Deborah Cox and many others. |
